Fall Fashion 2022
Fall Fashion 2022
PSLs, Oktoberfest, football, fires, fashion…What's not to love about fall? As the seasons change, leaves turn golden and red, and the weather chills, each year the fashion world unveils its latest fall trends. While each brand comes out with its own style, the pieces are usually spectacular and desirable. But in addition to these, there are always some styles that stand the test of time year over year. Here are some of our favorite things about fall fashion.
Fall Colors
Few colors compare to those of crisp autumn leaves. Delightfully, much of the fashion industry draws inspiration from these warm colors in their fall drops. Almost predictably, we can expect to see varieties of blue, hunter green, rust, golden yellow, deep reds, burgundy, browns, cream, and other jewel tones. Once in a while, brighter colors like baby blue or violette will make an appearance too. Unlike other seasons, however, many autumn colors pair well together, making fall clothes easy to mix and match with colors, patterns, and textures.
Layering
Another great aspect of fall fashion is the opportunity to layer a lot. Depending on location, the weather isn’t quite chilly enough to wear a full winter coat, so layering clothes can be helpful in maintaining a homeostatic temperature. Pieces range from sweaters, long-sleeve tops, blazers, puffy vests, sweater vests, to hoodies, coats, and button-downs. The pairing options are seemingly endless. Layering also offers more outfit versatility. A simple long-sleeve top or turtleneck can pair with a puffy or sweater vest, hoodie, or light jacket. A crewneck and puffy vest combination is a great choice for tailgating. Sweaters and button-downs are always a classic pair. Whatever your preference, lean into layering during this season.
Outerwear
As it slowly gets colder, insulated and warmer outerwear becomes more popular. For fall to winter transition, outerwear generally includes dressy wool coats, puffy winter coats, jackets in a variety of materials, shackets, and accessories like hats and scarves. A beautiful quality of outerwear is that it offers choices: it can be muted to match the outfit underneath or be a bold statement piece in and of itself. This season, lighter options like jean jackets, leather jackets, bomber jackets, retro varsity jackets, and suede jackets are all in and are perfect additions to almost any outfit. Depending on how cold it is, hats and gloves may be necessary, but with the many styles available, accessories like these are also a fun and easy way to enhance and polish an outfit in addition to other outerwear.
Bottoms
It goes without saying that pants are a common choice in the fall. Denim pants of all sorts (even white jeans) are a fantastic choice. In 2022, many pairs are available and in: flare, boot-cut, wide-leg, and even some skinny options. Chinos are also a great option, particularly for men, since they come in a variety of colors and materials, and offer more stretch than classic jeans. They are an ideal pair for someone who is looking to elevate their look without compromising comfort. In the meantime, we’re waiting for corduroys to have their moment again.
Shoes
Arguably, one of the best things about fall fashion are the shoes. Across the board, boots are prevalent and are perfectly informal pieces to add to most fall outfits. Popular styles today include ankle boots, chukka boots, Chelsea boots, cowboy boots, rain boots, and some riding boots. Leather loafers are also in. For many cold weather shoes, leather is going to be one of the best materials because of its quality and that it won’t deteriorate quickly. In line with other fall clothing pieces, classic color options for shoes include black, brown, burgundy, and some white and patterns, depending on the shoe.
There are many things to love about fall, but there is a reason that fashion is definitely a favorite for many. From warm colors and cozy sweaters to bold coats and pants to gloves and hats, it's hard to go wrong with choosing pieces for your closet. Since autumn is an exceptional time to mix and match colors, patterns, and textures, it’s a great opportunity to pair new and unique items together to explore your creativity and solidify your personal style.
